This message is for those currently enrolled in Town of Oakville programs, as well as all Oakville residents.

STRIKE UPDATE:  I’m happy to report that a settlement has been reached and classes have resumed as of Monday November 13, 2023.

Those who are currently registered in Town of Oakville programs were notified last week of the union strike and the pause to programs.  You might have felt surprised by this news… trust me I felt the same way.  I know a lot of us look forward to our class time together and planned our week around it.  I apologize for the inconvenience it might have caused.

Although I’m a Town employee, I’m not part of this union but a lot of my coworkers are – they run the recreation centres, parks & green spaces, snow and leaf removal.  I’m not authorized to speak on what’s going on (mostly because I don’t know the details) but I’m hoping that this strike will be short and we’ll be back up and running soon.  When this is the case you’ll receive notification most likely via email from the Town that your program will be resuming.

If you would like to keep up to date on what’s going on please refer to the Town of Oakville’s website or insidehalton.ca.  Of course I can always be reach via email too.

Good news is that Maple Grove United Church classes are business as usual.  Beverly and I look forward to seeing you this upcoming week.

Hang in there!  We’ve done this before with covid and we will back in class soon.
